Two-Week Writing Groups
These groups are spaces where you may ease into, jump start, or simply feed your writing practice. Offered on a monthly basis, each group is themed, however, you’re welcome to interpret the themes as literally or figuratively as you’d like. At the end of the two weeks, I hope you will have a collection of six pieces that have taken you down some unexpected paths or that you might be able to connect to a current work-in-progress.
Six prompts will be sent by email. Participants then share work in a closed Facebook group.
Poetry and prose; new, seasoned, and everything-in-between writers are welcome.
People, Places & Things Summer Writing Group Series
“Instructions for living a life:
Pay attention.Be astonished.
Tell about it.”
~Mary Oliver, “Sometimes”
From a young age, I have always loved observing people, places, and things. I love people watching sitting in a park, on a bus or subway, walking down a crowded street. I love imagining their back stories- what thought went into choosing a particular hair color, outfit or tattoo. I love wondering about the histories of places. I love learning the meaning behind objects and what emotion they might evoke from their owners.
We’re going to watch and listen to the people, places, and things in our present day. We are going back in time to reflect on past experiences. We are time traveling to imagine the future. We are going to write our way through the long, luxuriously warm days of summer about people, places & things!
